Sound step by step practical advice... August 15, 2010 D. Currie Comprehensive coverage of most aspects of bee keeping. Written in a laid-back style, without dogma, yet set out in a logical format.
I would recommend as an excellent reference book for beginners. Those keen to expand their apiary or simply gain a refreshingly different perspective on the subject - which generates more personal opinions than you can shake a stick at - would also benefit!
A Practical Manual of Beekeeping July 4, 2010 Robert 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Quite simply, the best book I have ever read on beekeeping. David Cramp covers the entire subject in a simple, almost conversational style. Where there are several options, he outlines each one, then tells the reader which ones, in his experience, actually work or don't work. It's a great read the first time, and then a very useful reference book thereafter.
A Practical Manual of Beekeeping; David Cramp: Novice Beekeeper tries patience of local library. April 26, 2010 Rtd Nurse Linda (Berkshire, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Along with about five other beekeeping titles, I requested David Cramp's book from my local library; I found it so much more readable and informative than the others that I renewed it over and over and finally (from embarrassment as much as anything) decided that I must have it to hand at all times so it was time to purchase my own copy. Even though I have read it all through, (and being of a certain age with slight memory impairment problems), it is a joy to dip into whenever I need to check on something. Highly recommended.
Great for first time beekeepers February 3, 2010 Kingfisher (Bournemouth, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are thinking about keeping bees, this is the book for you. It's easy to read, fun and authoritative without being boring.
Best for new beekeepers December 3, 2009 Mrs. E. Ledsham (Devon Uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this because I am hoping to start beekeeping. It is highly readable, tells you exactly what you need to know and is clear enough for a novice to understand but goes into sufficient detail for more experienced beekeepers. Well worth the money.
